·      Demolition of 13 residential structures.

·      Abatement of asbestos materials

·      Abatement of lead painted materials

·      Removal of universal waste materials

·      Excavation and management of 150 tons of lead contaminated soil

The site consisted of fourteen properties located along Butternut and N. Townsend Streets in a residential area of Syracuse, NY.  The structures ranged in size from 8,800 to 1,200 square feet.

In addition to the coordination of all utility disconnects and permitting associated with demolition and traffic control, the project required the abatement and removal of asbestos containing materials; removal and consolidation of universal waste and commercial waste materials; demolition of thirteen residential structures; asbestos and lead abatement of one structure to be rehabilitated; and the management of soils contaminated with lead from several of the locations.

The thirteen structures designated for demolition were condemned and demolished with asbestos in place in accordance with all Federal, State and local requirements and were conducted under a site-specific variance issued by the NY State Department of Labor.  Prior to demoilition, universal and other regulated wastes were removed, packaged in accordance with DOT guidelines and transported for off-site disposal at an approved facility,

Each of the structures was demoilshed in a systematic top-down process andthe materials were segrgated and transported to an approved off-site facility.  Where required, foundations were removed in their entirety.

Approximately 150 tons of surface soils contaminated with lead were excavated from various locations and transproted to an approved off-site disposal facility.
